ROLE
As a Senior Director - Scientific Program Officer, José Faraldo-Gómez helps guide and manage programs that support early career scientists including the Hanna H. Gray Fellows Program and the Freeman Hrabowski Scholars Program, which he oversees with Angela DePace. He also liaises with Scholars and their laboratories and the host institution.
BIO
Faraldo-Gómez joined HHMI in 2024, after 17 years leading a thriving research laboratory at the National Institutes of Health and the Max Planck Society. Faraldo-Gómez studied the structure and mechanisms of cellular membranes at the molecular and supramolecular scale, using theoretical and computational methods in close synergy with experimental work.
Faraldo-Gómez earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics in 1999, from the Autonomous University of Madrid, and a PhD in Biophysics in 2002, from the University of Oxford. He completed his postdoctoral training between 2003 and 2007, at Cornell University and the University of Chicago.
