BIO

DePace joined HHMI in 2023 after 15 years of leading a laboratory at Harvard Medical School. Her research focuses on deciphering the mechanisms of animal transcription and how these mechanisms enable and constrain regulatory evolution. DePace and her team couple quantitative imaging with computational modeling of gene regulation in the Drosophila embryo, often working in collaboration with theorists. DePace maintains her research program at Harvard University while serving as scientific program officer at HHMI.

DePace earned a BS in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale University and a PhD in biochemistry from the University of California, San Francisco. She completed her postdoctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley.
