The Success in Science program focuses on high-impact educational practices that advance student learning and improve the undergraduate science experience to prepare all interested students for advanced study and careers in science.   

To achieve this goal the program supports: 

  • The Success in Science Learning Community, which brings together faculty from 34 institutions who share their experiences and practices for improving the undergraduate student experience 
  • Student-focused efforts at 12 grantee institutions from within the learning community that received grants to pursue the following objectives related to one or more of the following categories: 
    • Improving student learning in science gateway courses 
    • Building and sustaining science learning communities 
    • Expanding access to undergraduate research opportunities for all interested students 
    • Supporting student-driven innovation and leadership 
    • Advancing career and graduate school readiness 
    • Promoting evidence-based, student-centered innovation in science education
