A growing consensus has emerged in the national community on needed reforms in undergraduate science education to better prepare scientifically literate citizens as well as the next generation of scientists.

This is reflected in two key reports:

  • Bio 2010: Transforming Undergraduate Education for Future Research Biologists, and,
  • Vision and Change in Undergraduate Biology Education (http://visionandchange.org)

Any changes in science education will also affect how premedical students are prepared for medical school. Coordinating medical education across undergraduate and graduate levels is vital.
