The large animal population in Gorongosa National Park was decimated during the Mozambican civil war. Some animal populations are now apparently recovering faster than others. Dr. Corina Tarnita and her team use population growth models to assess the recovery of the different species of animals in Gorongosa. Even a relatively simple elaboration of the basic logistic growth model can accurately reflect how the real populations are changing.
