The following classroom-ready resources complement the film Genes as Medicine. It tells the story of the successes and challenges that led to the development of the first FDA-approved gene therapy for a genetic disease.
The Abbreviated Film Guide provides a short summary of the film, along with key concepts and connections to curriculum standards. The Student Handout is designed as a learning assessment that probes students’ understanding of the key concepts addressed in the film. The Educator Materials document provides the same information as the Abbreviated Film Guide with the following additional elements:
suggested pause points in the film with questions for students;
background information and detailed discussion points;
a list of related resources and references; and
an answer key for the student handout.
These documents are updated as new information and resources become available.
