Fred R. Lummis is Co-Founder and Chairman of Platform Partners LLC, a private investment company based in Houston. Previously, he served as Chairman and CEO of American Tower Corporation, Advantage Outdoor Company, and Cardtronics, Inc. From 2015 to 2019 he was Chairman of the Board of Baylor College of Medicine. He received a BA in economics from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Lummis is the second member of the Hughes family to serve as trustee of HHMI.

Lummis was elected a Trustee of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in 2010.
