Dr. Kornblihtt is professor of molecular and cell biology at the Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales of the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is also an investigator at the Institute of Physiology, Molecular Biology and Neurosciences (IFIBYNE) of the National Research Council of Argentina (CONICET). He was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship; the Konex Platinum Award; a chair from the Fundación Antorchas; the Bicentennial Medal; the Houssay Achieving Award in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; the Honorary Mention Domingo Faustino Sarmiento of the Argentine Senate; and the 2011 TWAS Prize in Medical Sciences, granted by the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World. He serves on the advisory boards of research institutes in Italy, India, South Africa, and Uruguay; is a member of the National Committee on Ethics in Science and Technology of Argentina (CECTE); and acted as president of the Argentine Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SAIB). He is a member of the Board of Reviewing Editors of Science, serves on the editorial boards of IUBMB Life and Molecular and Cellular Biology, and is editor-in-chief of Transcription. Dr. Kornblihtt was named Investigator of the Argentine Nation 2011 by the president of Argentina and is a foreign associate of the US National Academy of Sciences and a foreign member of EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organization). Dr. Kornblihtt was an HHMI international research scholar from 2002 to 2011.
