Jerry L. Workman, Ph.D.

Jerry  L.  Workman

Dr. Workman is Paul Berg Professor of Biochemistry at Pennsylvania State University. He received his B.S. degree from Northern Illinois University and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan, where he studied chromosome structure with John Langmore. His postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Robert Roeder at the Rockefeller University involved studying the effects of chromatin on transcription regulation in vitro. These studies were expanded at Massachusetts General Hospital and at Harvard Medical School, where he studied with Robert Kingston as a research fellow in molecular biology.



RESEARCH ABSTRACT SUMMARY:

Jerry Workman's laboratory has purified and studies several protein complexes that modify regions of chromosomes to regulate the expression of the underlying genes.
