Cynthia Wolberger, Ph.D.

Cynthia Wolberger

Dr. Wolberger is also Professor of Biophysics and Biophysical Chemistry at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She received her A.B. degree in physics from Cornell University and her Ph.D. degree in biophysics from Harvard University, doing thesis work with Stephen Harrison and Mark Ptashne on the crystal structure of 434 Cro bound to DNA. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, she did further research in the laboratory of Carl Pabo at Johns Hopkins, on the crystal structure analysis of protein-DNA complexes.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT SUMMARY:

Cynthia Wolberger's research is focused on the molecular mechanisms by which eukaryotic genes are silenced by Sir2 proteins. She also studies the assembly, disassembly, and recognition of linkage-specific polyubiquitin chains.
