Stephen T. Smale, Ph.D.

Stephen T. Smale

Dr. Smale is Professor of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics and a member of the Molecular Biology Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles, David Geffen School of Medicine. He received his Ph.D. degree in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied with Robert Tjian. As a Helen Hay Whitney Foundation Fellow, Dr. Smale performed postdoctoral research with David Baltimore at the Whitehead Institute, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.



RESEARCH ABSTRACT SUMMARY:

Stephen Smale uses the mouse immune system as a model for studying fundamental mechanisms of gene regulation in a physiological setting.
