Dr. Piwnica-Worms is also Gerty T. Cori Professor of Cell Biology and Physiology and Professor of Internal Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She received her B.A. degree from St. Olaf College and a Ph.D. degree in microbiology and immunology from Duke University Medical School. After completing postdoctoral training at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, she joined the faculty of Tufts University Medical School, followed by that of Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Hospital, Boston. Dr. Piwnica-Worms is a former established investigator of the American Heart Association and a former Pew scholar in the biomedical sciences. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
