Helen Piwnica-Worms, Ph.D.

Dr. Piwnica-Worms is also Gerty T. Cori Professor of Cell Biology and Physiology and Professor of Internal Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine. She received her B.A. degree from St. Olaf College and a Ph.D. degree in microbiology and immunology from Duke University Medical School. After completing postdoctoral training at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, she joined the faculty of Tufts University Medical School, followed by that of Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Hospital, Boston. She currently serves as Associate Director of Basic Science for the Siteman Cancer Center and Co-Director of the BRIGHT Institute at Washington University.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT SUMMARY:
Helen Piwnica-Worms is interested in how the cell division cycle is regulated and how perturbations in cell cycle control contribute to human cancer.
