Brian W. Matthews, Ph.D., D.Sc.

Brian W. Matthews

Dr. Matthews is Professor of Physics and Member of the Institute of Molecular Biology at the University of Oregon, Eugene, and Adjunct Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Oregon Health & Science University, Portland. He received his undergraduate and graduate training at the University of Adelaide, Australia. He did postdoctoral research at the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, England (with David Blow), and at the National Institutes of Health (with David Davies). Dr. Matthews is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a past president of the Protein Society.



RESEARCH ABSTRACT SUMMARY:

Brian Matthews uses x-ray crystallography and other techniques to study the mechanisms of protein folding and protein-protein, protein-ligand, and DNA-protein interactions.
