Dr. Locksley is also Sandler Distinguished Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Microbiology/Immunology at the University of California, San Francisco, where he is Director of the Sandler Asthma Basic Research Center. He received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Harvard and his M.D. degree from the University of Rochester. After completing his residency at UCSF, he trained in infectious diseases at the University of Washington, Seattle. Dr. Locksley was recently elected a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT SUMMARY:
Richard Locksley's laboratory focuses on tracking cytokine expression in model systems as a mechanism to investigate complex functional interactions between innate and adaptive cells in the immune system. He is particularly interested in allergic diseases such as asthma.
