Dr. Krasnow is also Professor and Chair of the Department of Biochemistry at Stanford University School of Medicine. He received his undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry at the University of Illinois and his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in biochemistry from the University of Chicago, where he worked with Nicholas Cozzarelli. He did postdoctoral work with David Hogness at Stanford University before joining the faculty there.
RESEARCH ABSTRACT SUMMARY:
Mark Krasnow is elucidating the genetic programs that control embryonic development of the Drosophila respiratory system and mammalian lung. He is especially interested in the developmental patterning mechanisms and the cell and molecular biology of these processes, and in using the information to understand lung disease and to regenerate a lung.
