Wilhelmus G. J. Hol, Ph.D.

Wilhelmus G. J. Hol

Dr. Hol is Professor of Biochemistry and Biological Structure, Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology, and Head of the Biomolecular Structure Program at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Groningen with Jan Drenth. He then spent two years with UNESCO in Nairobi, Kenya, moved back to Groningen, and spent a year on sabbatical with Joseph Kraut at the University of California, San Diego. He has received the Gold Medal of the Royal Dutch Chemical Society and the Keilin Medal of the Biochemical Society (U.K.). Dr. Hol is a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) and the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences and has been elected an honorary member of the Indian Biophysical Society.



RESEARCH ABSTRACT SUMMARY:

Wim Hol is interested in protein crystallography for structure-based design of drugs for tropical diseases.
