Dr. Grishin is also Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Born and educated in Russia, he received a Diplom (the Russian equivalent of a master's degree) in biochemistry from the Moscow State University. His doctoral research in molecular biophysics was done with Margaret Phillips at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. After a postdoctoral year with Eugene Koonin at the National Institutes of Health, he joined the faculty at UT Southwestern.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT SUMMARY:
Nick Grishin is interested in using theoretical methods to understand proteins. He combines sequence and structure analysis with evolutionary considerations to facilitate discoveries of biological significance.
