Susan G. Amara, Ph.D.

Susan G. Amara

Dr. Amara is Senior Scientist at the Vollum Institute and Professor of Cell and Developmental Biology and of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. She received her bachelor's degree from Stanford University and her Ph.D. degree in physiology and pharmacology from the University of California, San Diego, working with Michael Rosenfeld. She was Assistant Investigator in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Yale University before moving to the Vollum Institute. She is a recipient of the Young Investigator Award of the Society for Neuroscience, the John Jacob Abel Award from the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, and a McKnight Neuroscience Investigator Award.
