Gábor Tamás, Ph.D.

Gábor Tamás

Dr. Tamás is professor of neuroscience at the University of Szeged in Hungary, where he leads the Research Group for Cortical Microcircuits of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He received his Ph.D. in neuroscience in 1997 from József Attila University in Szeged. He did postdoctoral work as European Blaschko Visiting Research Scholar at the University of Oxford. He holds a European Young Investigators Award. In 2002, he received the Hungarian Electron Microscopy Prize and the Krieg Cortical Explorer Prize; in 2006, he was a finalist for the Eppendorf and Science Prize for Neurobiology.

Gábor Tamás's HHMI-supported research focuses on the function of electrophysiologically and anatomically identified molecules, subcellular compartments, and small neuronal networks.
