Ma. de Lourdes García García, M.D., D.Sc.

Ma. de Lourdes García García

Dr. García García is Senior Researcher in the Secretaria Adacemica and Director of the Tuberculosis Unit of the Instituto Nacional de Salud Publica in Cuenavaca, Mexico. She was awarded her M.D. in 1978 for her work on phagocytosis of macrophages in the National Institute for Nutrition and in 1998 her D.Sc. in infectious diseases, both from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de México. She has received prizes from the Mexican Ministry of Health and the Mexican Council of Science and Technology and is a member of the National Academy of Mexico. Her HHMI project involves the molecular epidemiology of community transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
