Students Win HHMI Predoctoral Fellowships

Summary

Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) today named 49 students from colleges and universities worldwide as winners of new predoctoral fellowships. The awards support up to five years of work toward doctoral degrees in the biological sciences.

Awardees include 24 men and 25 women. Six are minorities underrepresented in the sciences.

HHMI has invested more than $141 million in the training of nearly 1,200 doctoral students from the U.S. and overseas since the program began in 1988. This is the final round of new predoctoral fellowships.
