What Is RSS?
RSS (sometimes known as Really Simple Syndication) basically allows Internet users to monitor or subscribe to websites that have provided special "feeds" of rapidly changing content. Updates to your subscribed channels are automatically delivered to your RSS reader in an easy to browse format, eliminating the need to visit each site or search through your favorite bookmarks. An RSS channel consists of a headline, a short description, and a link to the web page with the full article.

How Do I Use RSS?
To use RSS, you will need a RSS news reader that allows you to subscribe and display RSS channels. The RSS news readers come in many flavors for many platforms. Many are free, most are applications you install and some are plug-ins that work inside your web browser or e-mail system. Some web browsers (e.g., Firefox) offer built-in RSS support by allowing you to create a bookmark that automatically adds new stories as they are published. Other browsers will simply display the feed as an index page.
