HHMI Issues Notice of Fraudulent Activity
The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) has become aware of fraudulent activity involving checks that are purported to be from HHMI. Many of these fraudulent checks have been issued in connection with variations of fake check scams, and some imply an affiliation with legitimate organizations. Please be advised that HHMI has no connection to any lottery, secret shopper, work at home or any other commercial promotions. If you are not currently an HHMI vendor or employee and receive a check that is allegedly from HHMI, please contact us at (301) 215-8914 or (240) 497-2202 to verify its validity before cashing or depositing. Otherwise, you could be held personally responsible for the amount of the check and/or associated bank fees.
