Job Summary:
The Howard Hughes Medical Institute is seeking a scientific programmer to join a computational neuroscience laboratory in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT led by H. Sebastian Seung. This is an outstanding opportunity for a creative individual to participate in an exciting scientific project: Developing 3d nanoscale images analysis software. This is a problem that lies at the frontiers of artificial intelligence and computer vision.
The computing environment of the Seung lab is cutting edge, with a large cluster incorporating conventional CPUs with nVidia GPUs running CUDA.

Principal Responsibilities:
- To develop a GUI tool for image analysis and visualization, which will be used to find connectomes, “wiring diagrams” of the brain
- To analyze 3d nanoscale images of a piece of brain tissue and generate a complete map of all connections between neurons
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or in a related technical or scientific discipline (Equivalent professional experience may be considered)
- Experience with OpenGL and Qt in C/C++
- Command of multithreaded programming
- Experience working in a small team
- Experience with CUDA and cluster programming is desirable, but not required
