Student Research and Broadening Access to Science

Summer undergraduate research scholar program, including a weekly interdisciplinary enrichment program devoted to topics in research science such as ethics, gender issues in science, postgraduate education, science careers, publishing, funding, and oral and visual communication.

Curriculum, Equipment, and Laboratory Development

Introduction of a bachelor of science degree in quantitative biology initially directed to students who otherwise might major in mathematics, chemistry, or engineering.

Faculty Development

Modeling problem-based learning instruction by training new, current, and future faculty through the university's Institute for Transforming Undergraduate Education (ITUE), and through pedagogy courses for undergraduate problem-based learning group facilitators and graduate teaching assistants.
