Williams College is a private baccalaureate institution in Williamstown, Massachusetts. HHMI awarded the college grants of $900,000 in 1991, $500,000 in 1993, $900,000 in 1996, and $800,000 in 2000, and $1.6 million in 2004 for combined total funding of $4.7 million through the undergraduate program. The 2004 grant supports the following programs:

Student Research and Broadening Access to Science

Opportunities for summer research at Williams College and the Marine Biological Laboratory and for international research for Williams students and opportunities for students from collaborating institutions.

Faculty Development

Preparation of postdoctoral fellows for academic careers combining teaching and research and promotion of collaborative research between Williams faculty and faculty from other institutions.

Precollege and Other Outreach Programs

Expansion of outreach initiatives at local K-6 schools, supporting teacher training in technology, continuing high school research program and improving science laboratory experiences at local high school.
