Undergraduate research scholars conducting faculty-mentored research projects, undergraduate attendance at national research meetings, and an infrastructure to help students, including underrepresented students, to succeed in science.

Curriculum, Equipment, and Laboratory Development

Curriculum revisions in biology, creation of a bioinformatics minor, and implementation of exploratory laboratories in general chemistry for biology majors.

Faculty Development

Faculty access and incentives to adopt active-learning strategies and effective use of instructional technology, a joint biology-chemistry teaching assistant training program, and seminars in science teaching.

Precollege and Other Outreach Programs

An eight-week summer analytical chemistry course that will include an environmental or biochemical research project and follow-up activities for outstanding local high school students and participating teachers.
