We are developing a course in STRAW which focusses on Gunther Blobel's Nobel-Prize winning research. We will test it this summer and hope that our use of one of his seminal papers from 1975 combined with two selected recent articles written for public understanding and websites and animations accessible through our website will encourage more teachers to focus in on these resources (all accessible by the web) when they encounter the Signal Hypothesis/Protein Translocation/ER in their textbooks. Our course also links students and teachers to the appropriate place in the Alberts, et. al, textbook, Molecular Biology of the Cell.
We may try some Peer Tutoring this summer because we have many students who are returning. We can request that these students help in the Study Groups for STRAW which will be conducted mainly by postdoctoral fellows and Outreach teachers.
