ABOUT THE YEAR-LONG PROGRAM AT JANELIA

THE JANELIA OPTION

• An intense year of research, living and working at HHMI’s Janelia Farm Research Campus in Northern Virginia
• Research areas focused on neuronal network function and imaging at the cellular and molecular level
• Substantial previous research experience required

LIFE AT JANELIA

• Full agenda of seminars, conferences and journal clubs that will enhance your research training experience
• A chance to interact with outside faculty speakers, HHMI investigators, and other renowned researchers
• State-of-the-art laboratory and conference facilities
• Well-appointed on-campus housing
• Campus amenities including dining room and pub, fitness center, running trails, basketball courts, tennis courts, soccer field, dry cleaning service, and social activities

• For the 2012-2013 academic year:
• 5 students from 5 schools completed pre-screening portion of application
• 2 students interviewed at Janelia
• 2 students selected to complete Med Fellows application with Janelia mentor
• 2 Med Fellows at Janelia awardees from 2 schools

• Year in school:
• 1 participating after second year
• 1 participating after third year
