Medical Research Fellows Program
As a medical, dental, or veterinary student, you are in a unique position to advance biomedical research and translate findings from the lab into the treatment of disease. HHMI's Medical Fellows Program gives you a chance to focus on a research project full-time and determine how you can incorporate research into your professional career.

Spend a year—or a summer—conducting full-time basic, translational, or applied biomedical research.
- The Year-Long Program gives you the flexibility to select your mentor and project from laboratories throughout the United States, including those of HHMI investigators, or be matched with a mentor at HHMI's Janelia Farm Research Campus near Washington, D.C.
- The Summer Program offers you exceptional research training in the laboratory of an HHMI investigator or a Janelia Farm researcher.

The HHMI medical student research fellowship was a deciding experience in my path to a laboratory-based physician-scientist career. It was truly a life-altering year. I am now an independent investigator with a research program focused on integrating chemical genomic, genetic, and proteomic approaches to discover new protein targets and lead compounds for cancer therapy.
