Research Training Fellowships for Medical Students
"Medical Fellows Program"
The Medical Fellows Program supports a year of full-time biomedical research training for medical, dental, and veterinary students. This includes joint initiatives with the Ivy Foundation for student researchers in the neurosciences, particularly neuro-oncology; the
Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB) for students conducting research
in ophthalmology, particularly inherited retinal degenerative diseases;
and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF) for veterinary students.

Competition Schedule and Information
Competitions are held annually. Information on the 2010 competition can be found in the Program Information PDF below.
The application process is the same for students eligible for HHMI-Ivy, HHMI-FFB, and HHMI-BWF fellowships. There is no separate designation required in the online application. HHMI will identify applicants for consideration for these awards.

Eligibility
Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. medical, dental, or veterinary school and the fellowship research may be conducted at any academic or nonprofit institution in the United States, except the National Institutes of Health.
