General Chemistry Online Tutorial
The tutorial on this website from Washington University in St. Louis offers a review of 12 introductory topics in basic chemistry, including atoms, limiting reagents, solutions, chemical formulas, and energy, forces and vectors, as well as more advanced applications such as nuclear chemistry. It also contains practice problems and quizzes, leading up to an online general chemistry proficiency exam. A “helpful hints” page offers suggestions for attacking the problems and contains solutions to some of the more complex word problems within the tutorial. The periodic table and a page of formulas, constants, and conversion factors are available to test-takers. While designed as a guide to help Washington University chemistry department faculty advise incoming or first-year students, the tutorial can serve as a general review for high school students or undergraduates at any college or university.
