Description
This video shows real footage of somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) being performed on eggs.
SCNT is a procedure for transferring the nucleus from a somatic cell, such as a skin cell, into an egg (oocyte) from which the nucleus was removed. This video shows real footage, seen through a microscope, of a glass pipette removing the nucleus from an egg and then inserting a nucleus into an enucleated egg.
This clip is from a 2006 Holiday Lecture Series, Potent Biology: Stem Cells, Cloning, and Regeneration.
