Becoming a Scientist
John Kappler

Are you curious about a career in science? If so, you share an essential trait with successful scientists, namely curiosity itself. So says John Kappler, whose research team has made important discoveries about the immune system. "What makes you get up in the morning and want to come in every day is curiosity," he says. "It sounds a bit trite, but it's that there's something that I can find out that no one knows and no one has ever known previously and that I have the tools and the ability to find it out. That's what gets me going every day."
