Models of Education
The scale of HHMI’s investment in science education at the institutional level is important to its success; it reflects a belief that what works for one university in one location will not always be the best approach elsewhere. Read More
The Institute supports hundreds of experiments in inquiry-based learning, undergraduate research, and K–12 teacher training across the United States.
This interactive feature provides a state-by-state snapshot of HHMI-supported science education programs at research universities and colleges between 2006 and 2009. (Another round of grants was awarded to research universities in 2010, but these initiatives have not yet yielded data.) It aggregates data provided by the leaders of these programs to show the number of students and K–12 teachers, or teachers in training, reached in that time period.
Pie charts in the upper right-hand side of the screen highlight another of HHMI’s priorities—supporting women and students from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in the sciences.
