Jennifer L. Farris
Senior Director, Campus Services

Jennifer Farris directs the management of Campus and Conference Services for HHMI's headquarters in Chevy Chase, MD, as well as at HHMI's Janelia Farm Research Campus in Ashburn, VA.

Jennifer Farris joined HHMI in 2005 as the director of campus services for the Janelia Farm Research Campus in Ashburn, VA. Janelia was still under construction at the time, and it was Farris’ responsibility to establish the campus’s hospitality functions, including food services, conference services, fitness services, housing, and transportation. Since Janelia opened in 2006, Farris has overseen the addition of new services, including the expansion of the pub operation in 2008 and the design and construction of a 60-unit apartment building in 2010.

In January 2011, Farris was promoted into a regional role and assumed responsibility for the hospitality and facilities operations at HHMI’s headquarters in Chevy Chase, MD. In her new role, Farris also oversees HHMI’s archives and facilitates institute-wide activities such as record-keeping, policy management, and emergency preparedness. She is also responsible for directing the Community Partnership group, an employee-based volunteer committee that coordinates charitable activities for employees of the Chevy Chase campus.

Farris has a BA in English and History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining HHMI, Farris spent 15 years in the hotel industry, where she developed expertise in customer service and operational effectiveness.

Farris represents HHMI on the board of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce. Previously, Farris represented the Janelia Farm Research Campus on the board of the Dulles Corridor Rail Association.
