At the end of fiscal year 2012, the Institute had $16.1 billion in diversified net assets, making it the nation's largest private supporter of academic biomedical research. This represents an increase of $0.1 billion from the end of fiscal year 2011. Since 2003, the Institute has provided $7 billion in direct support for research and science education.
